Argentina: Roads

In 2007 the intercity road network comprised 230,125 km of roads, of which 31% were paved. Of the total, 38,313 km were under the national road network and 191,812 km formed the provincial road network. In the national network, 87% roads are paved, whereas only 20% of provincial roads are paved. Four branches of the Pan-American highway run from Buenos Aires to the borders of Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil. In 2006 the Inter-American Development Bank agreed to finance the road network development project in the Norte Grande region with US $1,200m. and covering approximately 1,470 km of the road network.
