Argentina: Education

Education is compulsory for all children at primary level, between the ages of six and 14 years. Secondary education lasts for between five and six years, depending on the type of course. In 2016/17, according to UNESCO estimates, pre-primary enrolment included 76% of children in the relevant age-group, while the comparable ratio for primary enrolment was 99%. Secondary enrolment in the same year included 91% of students in the relevant age-group. Non-university higher education is for three or four years, while university courses last for four years or more. Expenditure on education constituted 13.3% of total government expenditure in 2017.
